There are few things scarier than being in an automobile accident in Northern Kentucky involving a semi-truck. Many drivers are already leery of trucks on the roadways not seeing them during a lane change or turn. Getting hit by one can be deadly.

After the Accident

After any semi-truck accidents in Northern Kentucky there are a few things you will want to do. First, remain still. Ask if everyone else in the vehicle, if any, are alright. Try to get a response. If a phone is in reach, call 911 immediately. If you can move freely and without pain, turn to check on passengers.

If anyone is unresponsive, alert the 911 operator. The only time it is best to move an unresponsive, injured person from an automobile after a car accident is if there is a fire present, or the possibility of an explosion.

Note: It is best never to try to move someone who is unresponsive after an accident. Head and neck injuries may be present, and should be left to EMTs to assist the individual(s).
Whether you are in pain, or do not feel immediate pain, proceed to the hospital with an EMT for medical attention. This is because pain or injuries may not manifest immediately after the accident, or the onset of adrenaline may alter your brain’s perception of sustained injuries.

Pictures

Again, if you can move freely and have access to your phone’s camera, it is best to take as many pictures as possible. Pictures of the car, the truck, the damage, the roadway or the intersection, any other vehicles that may have been involved, etc. If you are unable to, have somebody nearby – a friend, family member, or even a witness to the event.

Collect Statements

Witness statements can also be very helpful in accident cases. Again, if you are unable to collect witness statements, perhaps an uninjured person, friend, or bystander can help.
